meta-runit-init

An alternative to standard rc-scripts (e.g. busybox-init or sysvinit) or systemd (which is rather large), this layer allow the use of the busybox-equivalents of the 'runit' package as the main init system. (NB: runit itself is not in Yocto/OE, but busybox version and daemontools are). Was an interesting experiment, but after evaluating this approach vs. biting the bullet and accepting the size of systemd the original author has come to the conclusion that the effort required to make a runit approach comparable to systemd isn't worth it on modern embedded devices, and he wishes to focus his energy on other projects than dealing with hardware that will be deprecated and eliminated much sooner than easier to deal with hardware.
